Making Playdough with Glitter & Kool-Aid

This month I am posting fun and creative ways to nurture learning through play.  Not only do kids get to explore with their senses, it also gives parents a break.  This is a great alternative to television!  I found this Lucky Chinese Playdough  recipe on Fairy Dust Teaching, a great blog FULL of inspiring activities for kid.

Making Playdough:

2 cups of flour
2 cups of colored water (I used 1 package of Tropical Kool-Aid)
1 Tbsp. of cooking oil
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 cup of salt

Place all of the ingredients in a medium size pan.  Stir constantly on medium heat until a dough ball forms by pulling away from the sides.  Take out of pan & knead the dough until smooth.

I let Lil Guy kneed the gold glitter in after the playdough was made.  Clean up took 5 minutes.  Definitely worth the hour of time it gave me to work on stuff around the house, while he played with his new playdough.  Plus, playdough is something that keeps on giving, lasts for months and is so easy to make with very little mess involved.  It gives kids the opportunity to develop fine motor skills AND provides a healthy outlet for them to release their tension and stress
